The outer surface of the pipe, from the pipe end all the way to the groove, must be smooth and have no indentations, projections, or roll marks that might affect the gasket seal.
Apply a thin coat of Tuf-Lube Gasket Grease Lubricant to the gasket lips and exterior. Inspect gasket for cuts or damage before installation.
Position the gasket over the pipe end. Ensure the gasket lip does not hang over the pipe end. The gasket must be centered on the pipe.
Align and bring the two pipe ends together. Slide the gasket into position centered over both pipe ends, ensuring it seats properly in the grooves.
Insert one bolt into the housings, then thread the nut loosely onto the bolt. Do not fully tighten yet — the housings should still be able to flex slightly.
Install the housings over the gasket. Make sure the housing's key engages the grooves properly on both pipe ends. Tighten bolts alternately and evenly to the specified torque.
